Holiday Cancelled At Foreign Ministry's Departments Concerned With Iraq

ANKARA - Foreign Minister Yasar Yakýs said on Tuesday that the holiday due to ''feast of sacrifice'' was cancelled for Foreign Ministry personnel who work in all departments dealing with Iraq.
Upon questions of journalists after his meeting with Yugoslavian Foreign Minister Goran Svilanovic, Yakýs said that they decided to cancel the holiday due to the developments in the region.
Yakýs stressed that important departments of Foreign Ministry which deal with Iraq, will work with full personnel during the holiday and that other departments would continue to work with their main personnel. Yakýs remarked that this decision was taken within the scope of regular measures that were earlier taken in case of similar developments.
When asked if Feb 8, by when the nine-day holiday starts, was a final date in respect of Turkey's announcing its decision regarding a possible operation against Iraq, Yakýs said ''no, certainly the U.S. wants Turkey to determine its attitude as soon as possible, but Turkey firstly thinks of its own interests. Later decisions will be given within the scope of the perfect friendship with the U.S.''
