ANKARA - Higher Election Board (YSK) sent on Monday a letter to Justice and Development Party (AK Party), asking the party to name a candidate for by-elections to be held in southeastern Siirt province on March 9.
YSK also asked Workers Party (IP) and Young Party (GP) to fill in the vacancy in candidate lists of Siirt by-elections.
After temporary candidate deputy lists were issued in the Official Gazette, AK Party candidate deputy Mervan Gul, GP candidate Ugur Kucukozbek and IP candidate Mehmet Dolek withdrew their candidacies.
YSK asked the three parties to fill in the vacancies in candidate lists.
The parties should notify YSK about their new candidates till 5.00 p.m. on February 6.
Meanwhile, there is no vacancy in lists of Republican People's Party (CHP), Democratic People's Party (DEHAP) and Turkish Communist Party (TKP) which will also join the by-elections.
YSK will issue the second temporary list in the Official Gazette on February 7.
Siirt Provincial Election Board will decide about the objections to the temporary list on February 18.
YSK will examine the objections on February 20 -21.
If there are vacancies in the candidate lists during this time, YSK will ask the political parties to nominate new people.
After completion of vacancies, definite candidate lists will be issued in the Official Gazette on February 25.
