ANKARA - President Ahmet Necdet Sezer sent on Saturday evening a message of condolence to U.S. President George W. Bush due to the space shuttle disaster.
Presidential Press Centre said that President Sezer stated in his message that the Turkish nation shared the grief of the friendly American people and Sezer conveyed the condolences of the Turkish nation and himself to the relatives of the seven astronauts who died while serving the humanity.
GUL SENDS MESSAGE OF CONDOLENCE
Gul said in his message that ''today our thoughts are with those bold and honourable men and women who lost their lives...The words are not adequate to convey our nation's sympathies to the victims, their families and friends, and to the American nation. Turkish people are deeply saddened to learn about this unfortunate accident. On behalf of the government and on my own behalf, I have the honour to convey to you and the people of the United States of America condolences on the loss of these courageous men and women. Their memories will always be cherished in the hearts of their beloved ones.''
ERDOGAN SENDS MESSAGE OF CONDOLENCE
''I would like to share the condolences of the Turkish nation and to express my deep sorrow over the tragic accident. The Turkish people share your pain on your sad day,'' Erdogan said in his message.
Erdogan also sent a message of condolence to U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell immediately after the accident.
YAKIS SENDS MESSAGE OF CONDOLENCE
Foreign Minister Yasar Yakis sent a message of condolence to U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell.
''We are very sorry over the shutter disaster and the death of seven astronauts abroad and we express our condolences to the whole American nation,'' Yakis said in his message.
