Baykal: Turkey Will Be The Absolute Loser Of A War On Iraq

ELAZIG - Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Deniz Baykal said on Friday that Turkey would be the absolute loser of a war on Iraq.
Answering questions of reporters, Baykal said that it was out of question for Turkey to gain anything from that war.
Baykal noted that it was not a rightful war and it did not have any legal, political or ethical basis.
Such a war would have many damages to the region, Baykal said.
Baykal stated that such a war would harm people and economy and strengthen division tendency in Iraq.
Turkey would suffer major damages in the event of such a war, Baykal said.
Asked about his view of military concentration at the border, Baykal said that this decision should not be perceived as a part of a possible U.S. intervention in Iraq.
Baykal noted that it was a decision reflecting Turkey's view to be prepared against possibility of a military intervention.
