ANKARA - Finance Minister Kemal Unakitan has said that they wished a war would not start in Iraq.
Speaking to the A.A correspondent on Friday, Unakitan said that they were carrying out works to minimize effects of a possible Iraq war on the economy.
''We wish that a war would not start in Iraq. It is not easy to estimate how long a war would continue and how much this would affect Turkey, of course. However, our economy is ready for at least some specific conditions and points. We made preparations to this end. According to estimates, our economy won't be affected much from such an incident. Besides, the 2003 year budget is flexible,'' he said.
