Guclu: U.S. Private Sector Wants To Put Into Practice Gapropark Project In Gap Region

ANKARA - Agriculture and Rural Affairs Minister Sami Guclu said on Thursday that some of U.S. private sector organizations wanted to put into practice ''GAPROPARK Project'' including establishment of stock exchange and agricultural technology center in Southeastern Anatolia Project (GAP) region.
Guclu received Turkish-American Council Food and Agriculture Association Chairman John Castello, Turkish-American Committee Chairman Isik Biren and accompanying delegation.
Speaking to reporters before the meeting which was closed to press, Guclu said that they would exchange views on investments which U.S. private sector could make in food and agriculture sectors in Turkey.
Castello said that they would discuss cooperation possibilities between the U.S. and Turkish agriculture sectors and noted that they wanted to make U.S. agriculture investments widespread in Turkey in order to develop economy of Turkish agriculture sector.
Recalling that a meeting on trade and investment cooperation would be held in Istanbul between October 19 and 21, 2003, Castello said that they expected to cooperate with about 300 firms from the United States and Europe at the meeting.
