ANKARA - Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Deniz Baykal received on Thursday Dr. Michel Friedman, the head of the European Jewish Congress, and accompanying delegation.
Addressing journalists following the meeting which lasted for about half an hour, Friedman said that a sound opposition was the sign of a pluralist system.
''A good opposition is necessary for a better government,'' he said.
Pointing out that important developments had been occurring recently both in Turkey and in the region, Friedman highlighted importance of debates over the issues such as Iraq and terrorism in line with nature of pluralist democracy.
