ANKARA - Prime Minister Abdullah Gul received on Thursday Dr. Michel Friedman, head of the European Jewish Congress.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting which lasted for about half an hour, Friedman said that his meeting with Gul was very beneficial.
Stressing that Turkey was a modern Islamic country, Friedman said that his country had good relations with Turkey so far and noted that Gul and he decided Jewish and Muslim world to come together at an international conference biyearly at the meeting. He said that philosophers and academicians could decide on what should be done for peace at this conference.
Friedman said that those conferences would be beneficial for prevention of radicalism and suggested holding this conference in Turkey next year.
He added that they, as European Jewish Congress, wanted to further improve relations with Turkey.
