C.H.P. Deputy Yildirim Visits U.S. Ambassador Pearson

ANKARA - Republican People's Party (CHP) deputy Mehmet Yildirim visited on Thursday U.S. Ambassador to Turkey Robert Pearson.
During the meeting, Yildirim said that Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein ''should abide by the United Nations (U.N.) resolutions'' if he wanted peace for his people and the whole world and called on Saddam Hussein to comply with the U.N. resolutions.
Yildirim noted that war and causing a war were a crime of humanity and added, ''if a war erupts as Saddam does not abide by U.N. resolutions, Saddam Hussein will be the cause of the war.''
Pearson said that the United States also wanted the peaceful solution of the issue and guessed that there was still some time to find a peaceful solution.
They were disappointed with behaviour of Saddam Hussein, who did not respond to call of the U.N., Pearson noted.
Pearson stated that they wanted to work closely with Turkey and they were paying attention to views of Turkey.
They wanted to cooperate, Pearson said and added that they thought that a peaceful solution was possible as long as there was time.
