Pearson's Briefing To Parliamentarians Postponed

ANKARA - Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Commission Chairman Mehmet Dulger announced on Monday that the briefing that U.S. Ambassador to Turkey Robert Pearson would give to deputies who are members of several parliamentary commissions was postponed.
Dulger told reporters that U.S. Embassy officials called the Commission officials on Saturday and noted that the briefing which was scheduled to be given on Monday was postponed.
The U.S. Embassy showed announcement of the report of the United Nations (U.N.) weapons inspectors and speech of U.S. President George W. Bush due on Tuesday as a pretext for the delay, Dulger said.
Dulger noted that the briefing might be given the following week.
Pearson had earlier invited all the members of the Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Commission, six members each from Human Rights Inspection, National Defense and Planning and Budget Commissions to the Embassy for a briefing. However, the members of the commissions had requested Pearson to come to the parliament.
