ISTANBUL - Finance Minister Kemal Unakitan and Health Minister Recep Akdag, who attended World Economic Forum in Davos, returned to Turkey on Monday.
Recalling that he attended meetings in which health ministers of G-20 countries participated in Davos, Akdag said that they took up how to manage health expenditures which became the problem of all countries and also AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria diseases.
Akdag said that they made intensive negotiations on those diseases and added that they discussed how to fight with those diseases and joint action against those diseases.
Noting that AIDS was an important health problem in the world today, Akdag said that AIDS cases were fewer in Turkey than many countries in the world. He added that the number of people infected with HIV virus was under 1,500 in Turkey since 1985.
Akdag said that his ministry would continue to take measures, adding that they especially debated education in the meetings. He said that they knew that education and life styles of people were important in this issue. He added that they also discussed that they needed cooperation of private sector during scanning and treatment of the disease.
Unakitan said that he held bilateral meetings and contacts in Davos and added that their meetings and contacts were positive.
Noting that it was understood one more time that Turkey had an important place, Unakitan said that Turkey was an important country for all entrepreneurs. He added that there was a great interest in Turkey.
