Gul Meets With Echr President Wildhaber

STRASBOURG - Prime Minister Abdullah Gul, who is currently in Strasbourg, met with European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) President Luzuis Wildhaber and Turkish Judge of ECHR Riza Turmen on Monday.
Prime Minister Gul's foreign affairs chief advisers Ahmet Davutoglu and Gurcan Turkoglu also attended the meeting which was closed to press.
Sources said that Wildhaber told Gul at the meeting that he was very pleased with steps in human rights and democratization which were taken in Turkey.
Gul explained reforms which were made recently in Turkey and said that Turkey was determined to walk on that path and implement the reforms at the meeting. He added that they made those reforms not for ECHR but for Turkish people.
Riza Turmen said that reforms on human rights and democratization were made in Turkey but there were still some obstacles before freedom of thought.
Gul added that obstacles before freedom of thought would be lifted as soon as possible at the meeting.
