ANKARA - Justice Minister Cemil Cicek on Friday met with Hasip Kaplan and Aysel Tugluk, the lawyers of Abdullah Ocalan, the head of the terrorist organization. Cicek said meetings of lawyers with Ocalan could not take place because of bad weather conditions, and that, ''state has never created difficulty in meetings of this person. On the contrary, facilities have always been provided.''
Speaking to A.A correspondent after his meetings with Kaplan and Tugluk, Cicek said the lawyers told him that they could not meet with Ocalan for eight weeks. Stating that there could be problems due to winter and bad weather conditions, Cicek said prevention of state in this respect was out of question.
Cicek said, ''this person has been there around four years. Has the state put forward obstacles before those who wanted to meet him? Those meetings took place even in the period when society showed great reactions. Turkey does not want much tension. We don't want tension. Tensions have not brought benefit to anybody.''
Cicek said Ocalan had his meetings face to face, adding that prisons and visits had principles. He said those who visited should abide by the rules.
Cicek said the meetings took place on Wednesday each week, and that the lawyers could talk to Ocalan in case weather conditions became appropriate.
