One Person Attempts To Set Himself On Fire In Front Of Prime Ministry

ANKARA - A 46-year-old person attempted to set himself on fire in front of the Prime Ministry on Thursday.
Sources said that Ekrem Catal who had come to Ankara from Corum province in Black Sea region was reported to be unemployed.
Catal who came in front of the Prime Ministry building at 11.30 a.m. attempted to light a lighter in his hand but Prime Ministry security officials prevented him from doing this.
Officials said Catal had earlier emptied a gasoline can on himself before coming to Prime Ministry.
Officials quoted Catal as saying that he was living in Corum and he had lost his job and he had come to Ankara two days ago to meet with Prime Minister Abdullah Gul but he was mentally distressed and attempted to commit suicide as he could not meet with the Prime Minister.
