ISTANBUL - Justice and Development Party (AK Party) leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan was acquitted on Wednesday in the lawsuit filed regarding tenders given to Albayrak Inc. by Istanbul Municipality.
Istanbul Fourth Heavy Criminal Court decided to imprison 11 suspects, including Albayrak Inc. administrator Mustafa Albayrak, for 2 months and 27 days on charges of cheating in tenders and misusing authority. This punishment of suspects were suspended after being commuted into fine.
A total of 54 of 72 suspects including Erdogan and Istanbul Mayor Ali Mufit Gurtuna were acquitted.
