LEFKOSA - Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) President Rauf Denktas said on Tuesday that signing United Nations (U.N.) Secretary General Kofi Annan's plan on Cyprus in its current form meant acception of Turkish Cypriot people to be nonexistent soon and added that this was a perfect preparation to make Turkish Cypriot people rootless and inactive soon.
Denktas received a delegation of Association of Martyr Families and Disabled Veterans and said that they would exert efforts to change some points of the plan during negotiations which would continue till February 28.
Denktas said, ''when we think Turkish Cypriot people as a young tree, if it is uprooted again and again, it cannot become rooted again.''
He stated that the most biggest shortcoming of Annan's plan was exchange of populations, removal of bi-zonal structure agreements and making inactive rights of Turkey which were depended on guarantorship agreements.
Stressing that current form of Annan's plan would serve only Greek Cypriot side, he noted that plan was unilateral.
Denktas said that property issue could be solved with compensations, reiterated his views on setting up a commission for determining compensations.
Some people from the delegation explained their sufferings and added that they did not want to live together with Greek Cypriot people again.
