Eroglu: Some Circles Expect Them To Sign Annan Plan In A Closed Eye Understanding

IZMIR - Dervis Eroglu, Prime Minister of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), said on Monday that they exerted efforts to better Annan Plan, stating that the document would be resorted to referendum after its final shape is given.
Eroglu responded to questions of reporters in Izmir's Adnan Menderes Airport.
When a journalist recalled statement of TRNC President Rauf Denktas that, ''I will not sign this. Find another signatory if necessary,'' Eroglu said the statements bound TRNC President Denktas himself, stating that government and the officials exchanged views with various circles to better the document.
Stating that some circles in TRNC said this is an ''acceptable'' document, and that it should be signed immediately and resorted to referendum.
''The sides exert efforts to carry out studies on the document till February 28 process to better the document. Democratic mass organizations revealed their views in rallies in the TRNC. However some slogans put those who organized the rallies, in to difficulty. Views of everybody are respected in democratic countries,'' Eroglu said.
Eroglu said the issue was under discussion, and that polarization on the island was not right in the current situation. He said some circles want the document to be signed with a closed-eye understanding, however that it was impossible for them to be in such an understanding.
