ANKARA - Ankara State Security Court (DGM) Prosecutor Hamza Keles requested the Ankara DGM no: 2 to sentence Fethullah Gulen to 10 years in prison on charges of ''founding an illegal organization with the aim of establishing a state on Islamic bases by changing the constitutional order in Turkey''.
Ankara DGM no: 2 has been continuing to hear the lawsuit filed against Gulen.
Gulen was represented in the court by his three lawyers.
During the hearing, DGM Prosecutor Keles read out his 24-page opinion about merits of the case.
Keles requested the court to sentence Gulen to imprisonment between 5 and 10 years on charges of ''founding an illegal organization with the aim of establishing a state on Islamic bases by changing the constitutional order in Turkey''.
Keles also requested the court to arrest Gulen in his absentia.
Meanwhile, Gulen's lawyer Abdulkadir Aksoy said that his client had been in the United States for medical treatment, and requested the court to give additional time to prepare their defense about merits of the case.
Ankara DGM no: 2 Chief Judge Huseyin Eken decided to give additional time to lawyers of Gulen, and rejected Keles' request to arrest Gulen in his absentia.
Later, the hearing was adjourned.
