ANKARA - An agreement was signed for production of lorries under BMC licence in Iraq worth of 287 million U.S. dollars.
Officials of Cukurova Dis Ticaret (foreign trade) and Mafex company which ensured connections in Iraq told A.A correspondent on Sunday that an agreement was signed between Iraqi Industry Ministry and Mafex company a short time ago.
Iraq wants renovation of a former lorry factory and transfer of machines, equipment and technology for production of 10 thousand BMC lorries a year.
The first lorry is expected to be assembled in Iraq at the beginning of 2004 if any unfavourable developments occur.
BMC's exports to Iraq is predicted to be around 100 million U.S. dollars a year together with the production.
