TRABZON - Turkey, which has a big share in world hazelnut production and export, exported 1,256 tons of hazelnut to China in 2002.
Exports to China started to increase with advertisements and campaigns of Hazelnut Promotion Group.
A total of 20 thousand tons of hazelnut is targeted to be exported to China this year.
According to figures of Black Sea Hazelnut Exporters' Association, Turkey exported 521 tons of hazelnuts to China in 2001 and raised an income of 1 million 705 thousand U.S. dollars through this export.
Hazelnut exports from Turkey to China increased by 140 percent in 2002. Turkey exported 1,256 tons of hazelnuts and obtained 3 million 235 thousand U.S. dollars from its exports in 2002.
Trabzon Trade Exchange Executive Board Chairman Sebahattin Arslanturk told A.A correspondent that they targeted to export 20 thousand tons of hazelnuts to China in 2003.
