Hisarciklioglu: Reason Of Basic Problems Of Turkey Is Structure And Functioning Of Public Administration

ANKARA - Rifat Hisarciklioglu, the Chairman of Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), said on Sunday that reason of basic problems of Turkey including debt stock, unproductive and unstable economy, unemployment and corruption resulted from structure and functioning of public administration.
TOBB held an ''Economy Summit'' in Ankara.
Prime Minister Abdullah Gul, State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullatif Sener, State Ministers Ali Babacan and Kursad Tuzmen, Industry and Trade Minister Ali Coskun, Labour and Social Security Minister Murat Basesgioglu, Finance Minister Kemal Unakitan, Tourism Minister Guldal Aksit, Environment Minister Imdat Sutluoglu, Agriculture and Rural Affairs Minister Sami Guclu, Justice Minister Cemil Cicek, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Hilmi Guler and Health Minister Recep Akdag attended the meeting.
Speaking at the meeting, Hisarciklioglu stressed that it was not possible to cope with all those problems on their own and that determination about economic program had to be put forth.
Hisarciklioglu said that public reform was necessary and that public finance and budget could not have a strong structure without making public reform. He stressed that imposing burden of this on real sector was inevitable.
In order to ensure a growth based on private sector, competition under equal conditions should be ensured, institutionalization should also be provided, Hisarciklioglu noted.
Hisarciklioglu addressed the prime minister and ministers who attended the meeting, ''you should listen to this circle. It is not possible for you to be successful without the support of this circle. Every issue taken up here is expectation of more than a million Turkish entrepreneurs. I believe that constructive and open stance of the prime minister will play an important role in solution of problems that our country is facing. We want this government to solve these problems, listen to our views and well-evaluate our proposals.''
Representatives of 34 sectors under TOBB's auspices will speak about the problems of their sectors in the part of the meeting which was closed to the press.
Problems and solution problems will be discussed in the afternoon session.
