WASHINGTON D.C. - International Monetary Fund (IMF) Foreign Affairs Director Tom Dawson said on Thursday that Turkey should protect its gains which it had won with economic programme until now.
When asked to evaluate current economic developments in Turkey during a press conference at IMF Center in Washington D.C., Dawson said that Turkey made a great progress in fulfilling the programme and added that protection and enlargement of gains is very important.
He said that providing non-interest budget surplus target and reconstruction efforts should be maintained.
Referring to contacts of IMF First Deputy Managing Director Anne Krueger in Turkey, Dawson said that news in Turkish press which claimed that Turkey's programme can be broadened by new funds, are baseless.
