Yalcinbayir: Government To Inform Parliament About Iraq As Soon As Possible

ANKARA - State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Ertugrul Yalcýnbayir said on Wednesday that the government will inform the parliament about developments regarding Iraq as soon as possible.
Addressing the parliament, Yalcýnbayýr said that the threat of a war in the region has driven Turkey to follow active politics more than ever, adding that ''this policy is based on peace.''
Recalling that the National Security Council discussed this issue in its meeting on December 27, Yalcýnbayýr said that Prime Minister Abdullah Gul and his friends implemented an active diplomacy in the region after that meeting and the results of these contacts had positive repercussions in the world.
''The right to declare war, to give decision on Turkey's sending soldiers to foreign countries, and deployment of foreign soldiers in Turkey belongs to the parliament. Our government will inform the parliament about the issue in the shortest time possible and the necessary meetings will be held,'' he said.
Yalcýnbayýr noted that everything is for peace and they support peace till the end, adding that this is the right of the world and regional people.
''We believe that the U.S. will wait for the Resolution of the U.N. Security Council and we wish Iraq to give up violence and weapons of mass destruction,'' he said.
