SILOPI - Aid organization Kizilay (Red Crescent) will erect twenty-four thousand tents in Ortakoy region in Silopi town of southeastern province of Sirnak for refugees that are expected to migrate to Turkey in case of a possible U.S. military operation against Iraq.
A ten-member Red Crescent team came to Silopi four days ago and they decided to use Turkish Petroleum International Company (TPIC) facilities near the Habur Border Gate as Red Crescent's main depot at first stage. All equipment will be stored in this depot a first.
Meanwhile, Emergency Rule Region Governor Gokhan Aydiner, Sirnak Governor Huseyin Baskaya and Silopi Head Official Unal Cakici visited these TPIC facilities on Wednesday.
Speaking to the A.A correspondent, Aydiner said, ''the aim of all these works is humanitarian aid.''
