BEIJING - Justice and Development Party (AK Party) leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that the determination that Chinese administration displayed in drawing of foreign capital would guide Turkey.
Erdogan and accompanying delegation attended Turkish-Chinese Business Council meeting together with Association of Turkish Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB)-Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK) members on Tuesday.
Addressing Turkish and Chinese businessmen at the meeting, Erdogan said relations between Turkey and China had root deep in history, adding, ''there is closeness despite geographical distance.''
Noting that Turkey and AK Party power attributed great importance to relations with China, Erdogan stressed that relations between the two countries developed on basis of mutual confidence.
Stating that the determination that Chinese administration displayed in drawing of foreign capital would guide Turkey, Erdogan said that Turkey and China could form more than one trading zone and that Shanyang and Jinzhou regions could be preferred.
Stressing that the existing friendship and good relations in political field should be improved and reflected to commercial field, Erdogan said that Turkey and China could cooperate in fields like construction, automotive, leather, metallurgy and railway.
Noting that they expected Chinese investors to contribute to the Kars-Tbilisi railway project, Erdogan said that Turkey constituted a model as kept together Islamic culture, democracy and modernization.
Erdogan said that they were expecting China to invest also in the Southeastern Anatolia Project (GAP) region in addition to communication and transportation fields.
Erdogan added that China should offer opportunities also to Turkish contractors regarding infrastructure projects for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
