ANKARA - Fadil Akgunduz re-applied to be independent deputy for the elections to be held in Siirt province on March 9.
Akgunduz applied to Siirt Provincial Election Board by his lawyers.
When Higher Board of Elections cancelled the elections in Siirt, the membership of Akgunduz in the parliament ended. Akgunduz was arrested and jailed due to the investigations against him.
Supreme Court of Appeals approved the two years imprisonment given to Akgunduz by Bakýrkoy criminal court for opposing the Law on Capital Market.
Those who are imprisoned for more than one year can't be elected as deputies under the Constitution and the Law on Election of Deputies.
The Higher Board of Election will re-assess the new application of Akgunduz.
