Arinc Goes To T.R.N.C.

ANKARA - Parliament Speaker Bulent Arýnc said on Monday that the efforts for peace in Cyprus have to take into account the realities on the island, adding that ''efforts for solution should accept the equal sovereignty and political equality of the two sides and it should maintain the bi-zonality.''
Arýnc talked to the press before leaving for TRNC for an official visit. Noting that Cyprus goes through an important negotiation process, Arýnc said that this process both concerns closely the Turkish Cypriot people and Turkey.
''The Turkish Cypriot people fight for equality and justice under the leadership of Mr. Denktas. The Turkish nation has always overcome the difficulties throughout the history...The Turkish parliament which has always supported Turkish Cypriots in their fight, will continue to be behind the Turkish Cypriot people from now on,'' he said.
Arýnc noted that the solution to be reached in Cyprus should protect the existence of the Turkish Cypriots and their life and properties.
''A solution which ignores the realities on the island and which does not reflect the will of the Turkish Cypriot people, can't be accepted,'' he said.
Arinc stressed that Turkey would continue extending support to Turkish Cypriots under every condition as an obligation of its responsibilities towards Turkish Cypriots and essential commitments stemming from international agreements.
Arinc stated that Turkish Cypriots would continue walking on the path towards the target of safely living in prosperity by maintaining their acquired rights and sovereignty.
Replying a question, Arinc said that Justice and Development Party (AK Party) and Republican People's Party (CHP) deputies were accompanying him, adding, ''thus, we, as the parliament of Turkey, want to display and prove how much we extend support to the parliament of the TRNC.''
Noting that they would not only hold official contacts but also meet with political parties' representatives and non-governmental organizations' representatives, Arinc said, ''undoubtedly, we want to convey the impression we will get in the TRNC to the relevant authorities in Turkey.''
