Turkey To Hand Over I.S.A.F. Command On February 10

ANKARA - Turkey, which continues to command International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan, will hand over the command on February 10.
Sources said on Monday that the handing over date had earlier been announced as February 8 and that Ankara accepted the proposal of Germany to Netherlands for the postponement of the handing over date to February 10.
The date to hand over the command was delayed for two days because of schedules of German and Dutch officials, the sources noted.
The sources pointed out that the number of Turkish troops in the force would be reduced to one division and preparations for the handing over ceremony continued.
Turkey, which took over the ISAF command for six months on June 20, 2002, decided to extend its mission till February since Germany and the Netherlands could not complete necessary preparations.
