ANKARA - Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) leader Massoud Barzani said on Friday, ''developments in the region concern both Turkey and us. We want to solve problems instead of creating new problems.''
Barzani and Justice and Development Party (AK Party) Deputy Chairman Mir Dengir Mehmet Firat held a joint press conference following their meeting.
Barzani said that he had congratulated the AK Party for its success in the general elections on November 3, 2002.
He said that they had exchanged views about developments in the region.
''Developments in the region concern both Turkey and us. We have entered a new era with the AK Party. We want to solve problems instead of creating new problems,'' he said.
Meanwhile, Firat said, ''we exchanged views about recent developments in the region. We believe that economic and political relations between Turkey and Iraq would continue to further improve. We want Iraqi people to live in peace and democracy by protecting territorial integrity of Iraq.''
