Gul: We Have Given Site Survey Permit To The United States

ANKARA - Prime Minister Abdullah Gul said on Friday, ''we have given permission to the United States to perform site survey in ports and bases. Decision of the parliament is not required for the permission.''
When asked, ''you have signed a decision about giving permission to the United States to perform site survey in bases in Turkey. Is decision of the parliament required for it?'' Prime Minister Gul said, ''I signed the decision to give permission to the United States to perform site survey in ports and bases. These ports and bases are already known. There are information about these ports and bases in catalogues of NATO. Decision of the parliament is not required for the permission.''
Responding another question, Prime Minister Gul said that the permission was given on the basis of bilateral agreements.
Prime Minister Gul did not respond a question about a news story claiming that if Turkey did not allow dispatch of U.S. troops to Northern Iraq via its territories, the dispatch would be made via the Greek Cypriot side.
