ANKARA - Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) leader Massoud Barzani said on Friday that he is hopeful and optimistic for the future developments in Iraq.
Prime Minister Abdullah Gul received Barzani in Prime Ministry.
Barzani said after the meeting which lasted 30 minutes that they had a very productive meeting and added, ''we saw that we had a common understanding in the issues we evaluated.''
Noting that he believed that there is a new base for developing the relations, Barzani said that he is very optimistic and hopeful for the future developments in Iraq.
Barzani offered his condolences for the plane crashes which happened in southeast Diyarbakir and eastern Malatya provinces.
KDP LEADER BARZANI VISITS CHP LEADER BAYKAL
Barzani visited Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Deniz Baykal on Friday.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting which lasted for 45 minutes, Baykal said that they exchanged views on developments in Iraq and added, ''I listened to his observations and predictions which will help our evaluations related to developments in the region.''
Barzani said that he was pleased to visit Baykal again and stated that exchanging views on developments in the region would assist to the two sides to better understand each other.
Barzani added that they were very close and in cooperation.
