DIYARBAKIR - Transportation Minister Binali Yildirim has said that they had not received clear information on possible casualties after collision of two F4 fighter planes in the air in eastern province of Malatya on Thursday.
Replying questions of reporters about military planes crash in Malatya, Yildirim said, ''it is true that two RF-4 military planes collided and crashed in Malatya. Rescue teams are now trying to reach the crash site, and we have not yet received clear information on possible casualties.''
Meanwhile, Hamit Gunes, the deputy mayor of Akcadag town of Malatya, told the A.A correspondent, ''shortly after, we were informed on the crash, we left for Yalimkaya village together with fire-brigades.''
''Planes crashed in mountainous area near Yalimkaya village and so it is very difficult to reach the crash site. I couldn't go there. Fire-brigades and gendarme teams are trying to reach the place on foot. Villagers told us that they had seen two pilots had jumped with parachutes before collision. Besides, military helicopters were heading to the crash site. I was told that two pilots survived,'' he said.
