ASKABAT - Turkmen President Saparmurad Turkmenbasi on Thursday received Justice and Development Party (AK Party) leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Erdogan and Turkmenbasi held a joint news conference following their one-hour tete-a-tete meeting.
Turkmenbasi recalled that Turkey opened embassy in Turkmenistan after this country declared independence in 1991.
Stating that oil production, which had been three million tonnes in 1990, increased to 10 million tonnes, and that 60 billion cubic meters natural gas was produced, Turkmenbasi said Turkish businessmen acted in textile sector in his country.
Turkmenbasi said Turkish businessmen made five-billion U.S. dollars investment in his country.
Erdogan in his part said he had visited Askhabad in 1992, stressing that he appreciated the developments.
Erdogan said cooperation should be made between the two countries in energy.
