ASKHABAD (A.A) - Interior Minister Abdulkadir Aksu said on Wednesday that fire still continued on the plane which crashed during landing at Diyarbakir airport and added that there was probably a serious loss.
A plane belonging to Turkish Airlines (THY) en route from Istanbul to southeastern Diyarbakir province crashed on landing at Diyarbakir Airport on Wednesday evening.
Aksu, who is in Turkmenistan together with Justice and Development Party (AK Party) leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan, told reporters that the plane crashed during landing 30-40 metres from the airport due to heavy fog.
Expressing sorrow over the crash, Aksu said that there were 71 passengers and five crew on the plane and guessed that there was a serious loss.
Aksu noted that four injured people were hospitalized.
