Erdogan: If Cyprus Is To Be A Peace Island, This Should Be Solved Through Mutual Agreement

ANKARA - Justice and Development Party (AK Party) leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan said late on Monday that, ''if Cyprus is to be a peace island, this should be solved through mutual agreement.''
Erdogan responded to questions at a program broadcast on private Star television channel.
Erdogan said, ''as Turkey, with an objective point of view, and being at a distance from sensitivity, we should provide the plan to be negotiated, and reach a positive result. We should search for ways to reach a solution based on concession.''
Erdogan said President Rauf Denktas of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) said he favored negotiations, stating that, ''they will sit at negotiation table. I hope a solution will be reached at that negotiation table.''
Stating that they were not a party having ''give and relieve'' understanding, Erdogan said, ''a just and lasting solution by basing on a partnership state, and through discussing property and refugee problems.''
