ANKARA - Prime Minister Abdullah Gul said on Saturday, ''we all have to expend efforts to find a peaceful solution to the issue of Iraq without a possible war.''
Prime Minister Gul held a tete-a-tete meeting with Prime Minister Mustafa Miru of Syria at the Damascus Airport.
Speaking after the meeting, Prime Minister Gul stressed, ''we all have to expend efforts to find a peaceful solution to the issue of Iraq without a possible war.''
''We should hold talks with each other, work on several possibilities and exhaust all diplomatic ways to this end. Therefore, I have started a tour to some Middle Eastern countries. I started this tour with Syria,'' he said.
Noting that bilateral relations between Turkey and Syria would also be taken up during his contacts in Syria, Prime Minister Gul said, ''it is natural to further improve relations between two neighboring countries.''
''Peoples of Turkey and Syria are brothers and relatives of each other. Therefore, we are hopeful about the future. I believe that my visit will be beneficial for our two countries,'' he added.
