Eroglu: There Is Not Any Difference Of Opinion Between Governments Of Turkey And T.R.N.C.

LEFKOSA - Prime Minister Dervis Eroglu of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) said on Saturday that there was not any difference of opinion between Turkish and TRNC governments about the Cyprus question.
Speaking at a programme on the Bayrak TV Channel, Prime Minister Eroglu said, ''I feel relieved as a result of assurances I got during my contacts with Prime Minister Abdullah Gul and Justice and Development Party (AK Party) leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan. We cannot develop a national policy without Turkey.''
''If the document presented to the sides by United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan is signed, we do not have the opportunity to make any changes. In fact, there are some points in the document that should be changed before accepting the document as a ground for negotiations about sovereignty, map and Greek Cypriot people to proceed to northern Cyprus. We do not escape from the negotiation table,'' he said.
Recalling that United Nations Secretary General Annan's Special Envoy to Cyprus Alvaro de Soto had postponed his visit to the island, Prime Minister Eroglu said that the postponement caused waste of time.
''Pressures on the sides to sign an agreement and start negotiations are totally wrongful. We want to attend the negotiations and display a good-will to reach an agreement,'' he said.
Referring to Greek Cypriot leader Glafcos Clerides' decision to run for leadership in the upcoming elections, Prime Minister Eroglu said, ''Clerides' desire to be elected once again for another 16-month term in office, contradicts with democracy.''
Prime Minister Eroglu called on Turkish Cypriot people to refrain from actions aiming at separating the people.
