GAZIANTEP - Southeastern Anatolia Region raised an income of 8 million 153 thousand U.S. dollars through sugar exports and 28 million 307 thousand U.S. dollars through export of biscuits, chocolates, cakes, waffles and candies in 11 months of this year.
The region exported 26 thousand 763 tons of granulated sugar and sugar cubes, and 16 thousand 994 tons of biscuits, chocolates, cakes, waffles and candies between January and November 2002.
In the same period of the previous year, the region obtained 25 million 777 thousand U.S. dollars from 94 thousand 174 tons of granulated sugar and sugur cube exports and 24 million 487 thousand U.S. dollars in return for 16 thousand 647 tons of biscuits, chocolates, cakes, waffles and candies export.
Thus, there was 68.4 percent decrease in granulated sugar and sugar cube exportation while a 15.6 percent increase in export of biscuits, chocolates, cakes, waffles and candies in the eleven months of this year when compared with the same period of the previous year.
Iraq, Germany, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Jordan and Lebanon were the main export centers of the region.
