Demonstrations Held In Ankara And Istanbul To Protest Possible Operation In Iraq

ANKARA - Demonstrations were held on Monday in Ankara and Istanbul to protest the possible operation against Iraq.
Members of a woman association who convened in front of the human rights monument in Yuksel Street in Ankara protested a possible operation against Iraq.
Addressing the group, Senal Sarýhan, the leader of the group said that they don't want Turkey to take part in a possible operation against Iraq. Noting that Iraq is the neighbour of Turkey and Turkey does not have any national problem with Iraq, Sarýhan said that ''this war should be definitely prevented.''
Meanwhile another group of people who are members of the ''Coordination of No to War,'' called for peace in a ship of Greenpeace. Mehmet Ali Alabora, an actor who spoke on behalf of the group said in the ship ''Esperanza (which means hope in Spanish)'' that the Turkish people are against a possible attack against Iraq and Turkey's taking part in it.
Labour Platform's Term President Sami Evren said that an attack against Iraq would be a crime against humanity, adding that the representatives of the Labour Platform would convene on January 3 and prepare a series of activities.
