Yalcinbayir: United States Will Threaten Future Peace In The World If It Takes Action Before A Second Decision Of U.N.

BURSA - State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Ertugrul Yalcinbayir said on Saturday that the United States would threaten future peace in the world if it took action without awaiting a second decision of the United Nations (U.N.) Security Council or without abiding by the decision in the event of a negative decision.
Speaking in a meeting in Bursa, Yalcinbayir said, ''as Turkey, we think that a second decision of the U.N. Security Council is obligatory.''
Yalcinbayir noted that developments that occurred in Iraq threathen world peace and that all countries had to exert efforts for protection of peace.
Fundamental human rights were taken under guarantee under Universal Declaration of Human Rights and European Convention on Human Rights, Yalcinbayir stated.
Yalcinbayir said, ''I am addressing the European Union (EU) meber countries and the Council of Europe (COE): Why don't you say anything in an atmosphere which openly threatens peace? We are addressing all countries: Why don't you say anything? Is it the supremacy of power or is the supremacy of law? Or is it the necessity of peace? We will search for peace till the very end.''
The issue was taken up at the last National Security Council (NSC) meeting, Yalcinbayir pointed out.
Yalcinbayir said that it was not possible for him to announce everything since they had to be kept secret but the Council ''made peaceful calls.''
The government would back this call till the very end, Yalcinbayir noted.
Yalcinbayir stated that they would work to prevent a war and ensure peace as much as they worked for EU membership.
Rule of law was the guarantee of everything, Yalcinbayir said and noted that legitimacy and international legitimacy were the guarantee of peace, Yalcinbayir said.
Yalcinbayir pointed out that to this end, the United States would threaten future peace in the world if it took action without awaiting a second decision of the United Nations (U.N.) Security Council or without abiding by the decision in the event of a negative decision.
''As Turkey, we think that a second decision of the U.N. Security Council is obligatory. If this decision requires a sanction in Iraq, it has a binding status. Everybody has to obey it. But, nothing can be a reason for violation of peace. Peaceful efforts have to be continued despite that decision,'' Yalcinbayir said.
Noting that one month of time given for protection of peace should be well-evaluated, Yalcinbayir said that Turkey would be determined to search ways of peace in that process.
Yalcinbayir added that Turkey's priority would be its own interests if peace could not be protected despite all efforts.
