ANKARA - The Central Bank directly intervened in foreign exchange market on Tuesday after an excessive fluctuation in foreign currencies.
Releasing a statement, the Central Bank said that there had been an excessive fluctuation in foreign exchange rates in recent days due to increase in concerns about a possible military operation against Iraq.
Stressing that due to this excessive fluctuation, it directly intervened in the foreign exchange market through ''sale'', the bank said, ''like in our direct purchase or sale interventions, this intervention expresses an uneasiness felt over the foreign exchange rates.''
