ISTANBUL - Iranian Finance Ministry Foreign Capital Director General Ahmad Mortazavi said on Thursday that trade atmosphere in Iran was changed with the economic policies implemented in Iran. He said anybody who wants could freely make investment in Iran.
Delivering a speech in a meeting entitled ''Turkish-Iranian Economic Relations'' held jointly by Turkish-Iranian Business Council and with the cooperation of Turkish-Iranian Businessmen Association, Mortazavi briefed Turkish businessmen about investment facilities in Iran.
Mortazavi said some changes had been made in policy for liberalization of foreign exchange and trade.
Mortazavi said other policies are removal of non-tariff obstacles and bringing some facilities which are sensitive to the tariff system. He said monopoly on some sectors like tobacco, sugar, and tea would be removed in Iran. He said foundation of a comprehensive privatization was laid.
Pointing out that a new tax law has taken effect a few months ago, Mortazavi said Iran would be a second China within 10 years. He said anybody who wants could freely make investments in Iran.
Responding to a question regarded with the possible war in Iraq, Mortazavi said they wished there would not be a war under no condition. He said the war would upside down all the accounts of the country.
Mortazavi said Turkish businessmen could make investments in Iran in the fields of mining, industry, gas, oil, tourism, and foodstuff.
