Korkut Arrested

SIVAS - Selma Korkut, a member of Turkish Communist Party-Marksist and Leninist Turkish Workers and Peasant Liberation Army (TKP-ML-TIKKO) who was involved in the bomb attack on former governor Ayhan Cevik of Cankiri, was arrested on Saturday after surrendering to security forces in central province of Sivas.
Korkut, one of the five members of TKP-ML-TIKKO who had staged a bomb attack on Cevik and arrested in their absentia by Ankara State Security Court (DGM) no: 1, was transferred to the court on duty after interrogated by the prosecutor.
Sivas Basic Civil Court arrested Korkut on charges of aiding and abetting to terrorist organization.
A bomb-attack was staged in Cankiri on March 5, 1999 against then governor Cevik of Cankiri by members of terrorist organization TKP-ML-TIKKO. In the bomb-attack, Cevik's guard Nurettin Cinsoy, passersby students Fatma Donmez and Emrah Ersoy, and shop owner Alpay Evirgen lost their lives while Cevik was seriously injured.
Four out five members of the terrorist organization who were involved in the bomb attack, have been captured.
