ANKARA - A total of 48 quadrillion 223 trillion Turkish liras (TL) was spent on food and beverages and 27 quadrillion 701 trillion TL was spent on energy, transportation and communication in first nine months of 2002.
According to data of the State Institute of Statistics (DIE), a total of 14 quadrillion 227 trillion TL was spent on durable goods, 19 quadrillion 422 trillion TL on half-durable goods and 15 quadrillion 255 trillion TL on services in first nine months of the year.
A total of 9 quadrillion 109 trillion TL was spent on citizen real-estate ownership in the same period.
Meanwhile, total salary and wage expenditures by the state reached 19 quadrillion 969 trillion TL while other current expenses by the state remained at 5 quadrillion 868 trillion TL in the same period.
Final consumer expenditures by the state with fixed prices in the first nine months rose 5.9 percent to 25 quadrillion 838 trillion TL when compared to same period in 2001.
With fixed prices, there was a 0.8 percent increase in salary expenditures and 13.9 percent increase in other current expenses.
In the January-September period, the public sector spent 2 quadrillion 407 trillion TL on machinery-equipment, 2 quadrillion 474 trillion TL on building construction and 3 quadrillion 753 trillion TL on construction except building.
Meanwhile, private sector spent 22 quadrillion 485 trillion TL on investments comprising 10 quadrillion 841 trillion TL of machinery-equipment and 11 quadrillion 644 trillion TL of building construction.
