COPENHAGEN - Prime Minister Abdullah Gul told British Prime Minister Tony Blair on Friday that it was not possible to accept the paragraph in Thursday's draft text.
Sources said that Blair called Gul on the phone on Friday morning.
Gul reacted to French President Jacques Chirac's statement that ''Turkey is blackmailing to us'' by saying that ''real blackmail is to direct meeting by taking it under pressure.''
Stressing that a grave discrimination was made, Gul said, ''thus, EU does not appreciate things which we have done and acts with prejudice. Great efforts should be exerted to correct it. Sentences and words which will remove uncertainties should be put in the draft.''
Gul said, ''I felt sad about Chirac's influencing and directing the meeting by saying, 'Turkey is blackmiling to us' as there was not an attitude against France by the Government and official circles. The real blackmail is to direct meeting by taking it under pressure.''
Blair said that he would talk about the issue at the meeting and added that he would do his best and defend Turkey.
