WASHINGTON - State Minister Ali Babacan, responsible for Treasury, said on Wednesday that any decision that would be taken in European Union (EU) Copenhagen Summit regarded with membership process would not negatively effect Turkish economy.
Babacan, who will represent Turkish government in the annual meetings of the Turkish-American Assocations Assembly (ATAA) in Washington, met with World Bank President James Wolfensohn and the U.S. acting Secretary of Treasury John Taylor.
Speaking after his meeting with Wolfensohn, Babacan mentioned the possible reflections of the decisions that would be taken in Copenhagen summit.
Babacan said, ''there are many possibilities and scenerios in the EU regarded with the decision that will be taken about Turkey. We will continue reform process whatever the result will be. Adjustment to the EU criteria will continue. To this end, we don't think that the result will have a negative effect on the economy.''
Babacan said they were not expecting a very negative decision from the Copenhagen Summit.
