Denktas: There Are Some Improved Parts In The Plan

LEFKOSA - President Rauf Denktas of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) said on Wednesday, ''there are some improved parts in the new plan of the United States, but our main problems have been continuing.''
Speaking at a programme on the private NTV Channel, President Denktas said that they could not accept the map which was presented to them together with the plan.
''We wanted to hold contacts with the Greek Cypriot side after receiving the new plan. But, our initiative was not responded. We were invited to Copenhagen. They ask us if we reach an agreement, we can sign the agreement in Copenhagen,''
President Denktas said, ''Minister of Foreign Affairs and Defense will leave for Copenhagen to give the message that we are in favor of continuation of the negotiations.''
Pointing out that there could not be an undesired marriage, Denktas said the two peoples should not be brought together by force.
Denktas said he was in contact with Prime Minister Abdullah Gul and Justice and Development Party (AK Party) leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan, adding that, ''they know our views with respect to national case. We don't have difference of opinion in essences of the national case.''
When asked about his health, Denktas said he would visit Ankara on Thursday to go through health control, stressing that he would return to the island in the afternoon.
Denktas said no program was prepared for other contacts.
