ISTANBUL - Fadil Akgunduz who was stripped off deputyship following cancellation of elections in southeastern province of Siirt was arrested and sent to prison on Tuesday after warrant of arrest in absentia was changed into warrant of arrest in presence.
Higher Electoral Board (YSK) announced on December 4 its reasoned verdict on cancellation of elections in Siirt.
Accordingly, deputyships of Republican People's Party (CHP) deputy Ekrem Bilek, Justice and Development Party (AK Party) deputy Mervan Gul and independent deputy Fadil Akgunduz were cancelled.
Elections in Siirt will be re-held on February 9, 2003.
