ISTANBUL - International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation led by Turkey Desk Chief Juha Kahkonen met on Tuesday with the officials of Turkish Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (TUSIAD).
TUSIAD Executive Board Chairman Tuncay Ozilhan, Deputy Chairman Aldo Kaslowski, Executive Board members Oktay Varlier, Lutfi Yenel and Serif Kaynar, Higher Consultative Council (YIK) members Zekeriya Yildirim, Yavuz Caneri and Tayfun Bayazit and Secretary General Haluk Tukel attended the meeting.
Ozilhan responded the questions of reporters after the meeting. He said that they conveyed to the delegation that they saw a political stability with the coming of new government and added that Turkey will enter a stability and development structure with the decrease in interests.
Noting that they said to the delegation that the structural reforms started to contribute Turkey, Ozilhan said that there are things to complete related with that condition.
Ozilhan said that they also discussed privatization and added that the delegation said that they are expecting from the government to support and fulfill the programme. He said that Turkey will have some problems due to the condition of Iraq in the coming period and a 'B' plan can be beneficial concerning this situation.
Noting that they told IMF delegation that the decision of European Union (EU) can form a significant structure in Turkey, Ozilhan said that if the decision is positive, the expectations will recover; but if a long-term decision is taken, there will be some negative conditions in Turkey and some arrangements will be beneficial related with this situation.
Ozilhan said that the delegation emphasized necessity of financial discipline and an inflation rate which is in conformity with the programme.
