Cox: Everybody Wants E.U. We Should Bring Together The Opportunities

LEFKOSA - European Parliament (EP) President Pat Cox said on Sunday that everybody in Cyprus wanted the European Union (EU), stressing that there were opportunities in this respect.''
Cox held a news conference in the buffer zone in Cyprus after his meeting with the officials of Turkish and Greek Cypriot chamber of trade.
He said everybody wanted to be in the EU today, and that there were opportunities in this respect, and that the conditions should be evaluated well.
Cox said the issue would gain a new dimension in case an agreement is reached, stressing that the opportunities should be evaluated well as Copenhagen Summit approaches.
When asked if this message was perceived well by the two sides, Cox said it was not easy to take risks, and that the political leaders should show courage and will.
Responding to another question, Cox said a decision would be given in Copenhagen whether or not to set a date for Turkey to start full membership negotiations.
When asked about the details of his meeting with TRNC President Rauf Denktas, Cox said the contents of the meeting was private, and that the issues were underlined in details.
Cox said in case an agreement is reached on Cyprus, four of the six representatives in the EU would be Greek Cypriots and two of them would be from the TRNC.
